This coconut yogurt bowl is the perfect healthy, breakfast, snack or dessert.

When it comes to breakfast, I'm undeniably a creature of habit. And that pretty much means oats every day. Anyone else?

Every now and then, though, I do feel like something a bit more fresh. My favourite go-to in these instances? Coconut yogurt. Some people hate the coconut-y flavour, but for me, it only highlights the tastiness of the fruit.

I'm also a chocolate girl through-and-through, so of course I had to add a bit of cacao into the mix.

While a chocolate and banana bowl may sound indulgent for breakfast, the cacao nibs and hemp seeds actually pack a nutritional punch in this coconut yogurt bowl.

Health Benefits of Cacao Nibs:

According to WebMD, cacao nibs do a lot, including

  • reduce cell damage
  • promote healthy digestion
  • improve mood
  • lower risk of heart attack

Health Benefits of Hemp Seeds:

Like cacao nibs, hemp seeds are also nutritional gems. According to Medical News Today, they

  • are full of protein
  • protect the brain
  • are a great source of fibre
  • reduce inflammation

Even though it tastes like a treat, this healthy option will keep you feeling full until lunch time. If you're not a fan of coconut yogurt, or just don't have any on hand, simply use a regular dairy yogurt instead. If you're vegan, you can also swap coconut yogurt for a nut or soy-based one.

Really, the choice is up to you; the magic here is in the toppings.

  • 1 banana (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp cacao nibs
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds
  • 1 tsp shredded coconut
