Tim Tam Balls with Alcohol

If you’d like to give this recipe a boozy kick, mix in 1 Tablespoon of a sweet alcohol like Baileys or Kahlua before adding the condensed milk. Since you’re adding extra liquid, carefully pay attention to the texture of the mixture, adding all liquids gradually rather than all at once.

Description

These easy Tim Tam balls are amazing. They’re quick to make, perfect for birthday parties, and always a favourite amongst children and adults alike. With less than 5 ingredients and only a few minutes of prep time, it’s the perfect easy party dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 regular packet Tim Tams (200g)
  • ¼ - ½ of a 395g can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup desiccated coconut

Instructions

  1. Blend: Pulse Tim Tams in a food processor until the texture resembles sand.
  2. Add: Transfer crushed Tim Tams to a large bowl. Starting with a small amount, gradually add sweetened condensed milk and vanilla to the crumbs, mixing as you go. Take care not to add too much condensed milk to avoid a sloppy mix. You want all of the crumbs to be wet, but the mixture should be dry enough that it you can scoop it up into a ball. You won't need to use more than ½ the can.
  3. Chill: Cover the bowl with aluminium foil and transfer to the fridge. Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight to make the mix easier to roll.
  4. Roll:  Scoop up a Tablespoon-sized amount of mix, rolling it between your hands to create a ball.
  5. Coat: Pour the desiccated coconut onto a plate. Roll the ball in the coconut until fully coated.
  6. Store: Store in the fridge so that the balls stay firm, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Storage: The Tim Tam balls will stay fresh for about 1 week when stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Vegan option: To make these vegan, use a vegan Tim Tam alternative and vegan condensed coconut milk.
  • Gluten free option: To make these gluten free, use a gluten free Tim Tam alternative
  • Added alcohol: If you want to make these boozy, add 1 Tablespoon of Baileys or Kahlua to the mix, noting that you'll likely need less condensed milk in this case.
  • Using Thermomix: To make these in the Thermomix, skip steps 1 and 2. Instead, add all the ingredients to the mixing bowl. and mix on speed 8 for a few seconds. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix again. Repeat as needed.
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Chill Time: 4 hours
  • Category: Dessert
  • Method: No Bake
  • Cuisine: Australian
